Over May bank holiday weekend, ten of Alice’s extended family and friends cycled the Coast-to-Coast in her memory and to raise money for the Trust. The C2C route from Whitehaven to North Shields is over 140 miles long, passing across the Lake District and over the Pennines as well as through the centre of Newcastle where Alice lived. It was a tough challenge—but at least the weather was favourable—except for the 30mph headwind!
The “band of 10” line up at the start in Whitehaven
Setting out onto Loweswater Fell
Crossing the Lake District
The long haul up to Hartside pass…
…and the satisfaction of reaching it
Gender differentiation entering County Durham
Passing through Newcastle
And so to the finish!
The event raised a fantastic £4306 for the Trust. You can still visit their MyDonate page.
